American Flyer Collectible Model Trains
Lionel's main rival was American Flyer (1907 - 1960) in Chicago, Illinois, which from 1918 produced a popular line of electric-powered o-gauge trains. An American Flyer O-gauge Chcago clockwork passenger set may fetch $800-1,200, and a No.16 cast-iron clockwork passenger set with tender and two coaches, truck, and box around $400-600. Later examples fetch less, with an S-gauge Franklin locomotive and tender from 1960 costing $200-300.
